We are honoured to have David W. Best Ph.D. sit on our advisory board.
It’s impossible to fit an adequately detailed explanation of David’s work into this small section, however we’re able to highlight his key areas of interest.
If you’d like to read about David’s work in more detail, we highly recommend taking a look at his website here.
David is the world’s first professor of Addiction Recovery. His interest centres around ‘Recovery Capital’. This covers all the resources that help people through recovery, for example, all the networks and support available. i.e. positive group support, people who support community involvement, people to turn to in times of need and in everyday life.
Sound a lot like Getting Clean? You’d be right. LEROs play a vital role in growing Recovery Capital!
David explains that recovery is contagious, and it cascades through networks. Not only does this spread between people in recovery, but there is also a ripple effect where the contagion spreads to friends, family and communities.
“I am not going to try to change people’s lives, but I am going to attempt to cascade the magic and inspiration of recovery contagion and the underlying principles of connection, hope, identity, meaning and empowerment.”
